I haven't been to Simply Syndicated in a while. I don't think anyone will remember but I was in a game of Mafia years ago and on Super Happy Funtime during one of their Christmas shows.
People might know the World Solar Challange which was held in Australia last year (a solar car race 3000 kms long from Darwin to Adalaide). I'm one of the Highschool of Arts Utrecht who followed the Nuon Solar Team (one of two dutch themes that competed) filming their adventure from building to finishing the race. You can see our items on this website: http://www.youtube.com/user/nuonsolarteam (please ignore the last two uploaded videos, but especially check the Day 3 item, it's our best). There are subtitles so you will be able to understand :) Spoiler, we made it to second place, just behind the Japanese).
Now, I'm not here to promote our items, but I'm here to help you promote your music, at least I hope so. We've made an entire 45-minute documentary of the entire story. We have a problem, though, we used a lot of copyrighted music for which we have the bands approval for using, but not the approval of the labels. Either that or communication is taking WAY too long. So, we're looking for royalty free music to replace most of our music.
I think I remember that there were A LOT of artist and guys making music here, and I remember it sounding pretty fine. Is there anyone who would like to hear their music played during a documentary of this type? I do have to stress, we have indeed been sponsored by Nuon, but only a little bit. They pretty much squeezed the last ounce of work they could get from us, as well as money from our school, so our budget is at zero now, so we can't pay you, but you will reach a new audience and your track and name will absolutely be in the end credits. Also, remember that there will be subtitles so it won't just reach a dutch audience, but an international one. It will be on youtube for people to plug.
We're already frantically looking for royalty free music on the internet elsewhere, but a lot of it is kind of... well crap :p We know there's better out there, so I really hope there are people on the SimSyn forums who can help us :) If you want to help, please contact me at dougurasu at gmail dot com.
Thanks Jakob! Oh I definitely heard you a lot, and now that I have a picture with that... it gives Nerd Hurdles a whole new dimension :) awesome beard man! Thanks for the links! We'll definitely have a good listen!
Please don't be too impatient with us, I'm working a lot this week to make some money to buy a new computer, but that kind of cuts into the time I can spend on this project. Don't worry, we will listen to you guys' stuff!
Tomorrow we're going to make the re-edit so then we can actually see if the music works with the pictures we have. I'll be there to plead for your guys' music. I'll say it here what we used as well as mail the people who mailed me and commented :)
In advance thanks so much for your quick response!! You guys rock!
EDIT: Also working on English subs for the entire documentary so you guys can actually, you know, understand what's going on :p The documentary will be on-line hopefully by the end of this week.
If you're still coming up short, I've been known to sing a little in the shower....I can bung it on a cassette tape and air mail it to you if you need it. But, if not, no worries. It'll save the cost of a tape and a stamp :)
Thanks for waiting patiently all this time!! While we were editing the owners to the rights of the original music finally started answering, so we post-poned the final edit a few days and eventually got the rights to almost every track we originally had, only three were left that we couldn't use. Unfortunately I wasn't the only one who had searched for royalty free music, so I'm sorry to say the director didn't pick any of your music :o While he did like quite a few of the tracks you guys had offered (he is reaaaally picky so that's a very good compliment :p) none of them had the mood he was looking for.
While I think it would've been awesome had we used your music, there are always more projects awaiting us, so I'll probably return at some point :) When the documentary is done I'll post a link in this thread for people to see if they'd like (with English subtitles) and in the near future I'll probably be back :)
Thanks so much for all the offers guys!! They are extremely appreciated!!
