NH 139 - Girl Detectives
  • This is a book trailer for the first Flavia de Luce book, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, to give people an idea of what we were talking about.

Oh my god! That makes the book seem AWFUL! The voice!?!?!? Why do thy get such terribl people to do audio books? Ugh!
  • Because they can't afford us.
  • I still think it's weird that people make book trailers.

No mention of Scooby Doo.  Shame.

  • By the way on the last 2 Nerd Hurdles episodes their was some jumping around to different parts of the conversation so I was getting it out of order. I don't know if that was just me or not.

  • Do you have specific examples of the skipping? It could be DL error or it could be because I edit out huge swathes of bullshit.
  • It wasn't editing, it was like I was hearing the end of a conversation and then the middle and then the beginnign sort of thing.
  • I've definitely listened to both and they didn't do anything like that for me. Curious.
  • It also only shows up as 51 seconds in Itunes.

  • Interesting. Sounds like you need to redownload.

I haven't heard any skipping but I listen from the website.

Well the sneering tone of reading is quite amusing for 30 seconds, but I take it that that's not what the character is about.

I notice that book trailers are on the increase on sites like zavvi.com
  • Not really. Flavia has a certain amount of sneer to her, but not like whatever that was the reader was doing. I'm reading the second book now, The Weed That Strings The Hangman's Bag, and it's quite good. More gothy than the first book which explains all the Tim Burtony fan-art out there.
