Who is the best of all time at mixing music and comedy? Mike & Jay debate it with Jay’s old pal, standup comic JT Habersaat, who also shares some war stories from the road. Order a copy of JT’s awesome upcoming book of rock and comedy interviews at Kickstarter. Links to stuff we talk about: Reggie Watts- Shit Fuck Stack, Guitar Comic Attacks Heckler, Gallagher Corrects His Opener, Psychostick- Girl Directions, Jon Lajoie- WTF Collective.
Also, check out Steve Rannazzisi from one of our favorite shows The League doing standup at Levity Live in Nyack, NY this weekend!

Adapting a novel for the cinema can be a difficult undertaking for a screenwriter. Especially as the former tends to have more room to stretch and explore a story than the former. Simon Beaufoy, best known for penning The Full Monty and Slumdog Millionaire, was tasked with adapting the book, Salmon Fishing in The Yemen, for the big screen. The book was relatively popular in Britain, and tells the story of Dr Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor), a fishing expert who works in the British fisheries, and is assigned to work for a moneyed Yemeni sheikh, who wants to transpose the sport of salmon fishing to his Middle Eastern nation. The middlewoman in all of this is Harriet (Emily Blunt), who headhunts Alfred for the job.
Most people would find such a proposal ludicrous. Alfred is no exception. A scientifically motivated, eremitical man, who suffers from Aspergers syndrome, he twice declines Harriet’s offer to put this chimeric venture into action. Read More »

When you start listening to this episode, you’re going to swear that you hear us introduce a show about playing with toy guns. Don’t worry, but you don’t actually hear that. What you actually heard was the introduction about school PE lessons. Not toy guns. Do you understand? You don’t hear the intro for a show about toy guns.

We begin by offering our best to the Aston Villa captain, Stilian Petrov, who has been recently diagnosed with leukaemia. As his Bulgarian teammate, Martin Petrov stated earlier this week, stay strong Stan.
We’ve done Top 5 episodes on sporting shocks and upsets in the past. So it’s only fair to bring the final member of this realm of sport into the fray. We look at the times when teams or individuals have won when they couldn’t possibly win; it’s the sporting comeback. Read More »

Is it me or does the summer blockbuster season start earlier and earlier every year? We didn’t even get to April before the major Hollywood studios started bringing out the heavy artillery. With the much anticipated adaptation of The Hunger Games, Lions Gate have laid down the gauntlet for the rest of the year. Which is pretty bold when you consider that 2012 is a year that will have new releases for the Batman, Spiderman and Avengers franchises.
It seems that it’s been impossible to talk about The Hunger Games without bringing derivative comparisons into play. Battle Royale, Twilight, The Running Man, Rollerball and Lord of The Flies have all been part of the conversation, often used to damn the movie with the faintest of praise. I’m yet to read the books, so my review can only be based on how the story worked on the big screen, rather than compare and contrast it with the original source material. Read More »
