A four year veteran of the ever-evolving Simply Syndicated forums (Fora? I don’t know), Casey is the very definition of the devoted fan who ends up joining the band. A father of two and a chef in a small Herefordshire pub and restaurant, the 24hr nature of Simply Syndicated’s community was ideal for an individual like Casey who often arrived home to a silent, sleeping house in the dead of night. A regular forum poster became a regular caller to Super Happy Fun Time, and in time a podcaster himself, when he guested on a Scottish-themed episode of Here Goes Nothing, hosted by fellow forum member CartBozMan.
After teaching the boys to deep-fry all manner of atrocities via webcam (Fruit Pastille, anyone?), Casey was later invited back as a regular stand-in presenter. This then became a permanent position, and as if by magic, the network that inspired the show came calling with the ultimate in good reviews – an invitation to the network.
And I’m still grinning.
As a fan, I still greatly value my position as simply of the regular forum gang, but our show’s new status gives me some exciting new possibilities. Look out for lots of forum-based silliness from HGN, not to mention many Simply Read posts from me,and all manner of crazy ideas still only half-formed. I’m living the dream, I tell you!
